CEREMONY QUESTIONS
WEDDING CEREMONY SECTION
RESERVATIONS
1Q. Can we reserve the time and date for our wedding
ceremony?
1A. Yes, you can, but we cannot guarantee it until
you actually book it and we send you a confirmation.
The earlier you book the better chance you will have
of getting all your wishes. While we can guarantee the
date for your ceremony, you may have to compromise on
the time of day within an hour or two for your ceremony,
but once your time is confirmed, that time is guaranteed.
FREE LIMOUSINE SERVICE
2Q. How does the limousine service in the wedding package
works?
2A. That would depend on the package and the Chapel
of your choice. Generally, the chapel that provides
the limousine service would pick you up from your hotel
and take you to the Chapel for your wedding ceremony.
After that, it would drive you back to your hotel.
3Q. Since the limousine service is free, how much should
I tip the limousine driver?
3A. Limousine drivers live on tips. Most people give
about $40 to the limousine driver, but the amount is
strictly dependent on your generosity.
MINISTER'S FEE
4Q. I see that the minister's fee is not included in
the price of the package; how much is the minister's
fee?
4A. The Minister's Fee is really a tithe. A tithe is
a traditional donation or "an expected donation"
which is dependent on your generosity but is also expected
to be of a certain minimum amount or more. For most
people that use a package that costs below $500, or
somewhere in that neighborhood, the expected amount
is somewhere between $40 and $60. Since ministers are
not paid for their services, it has become an expected
practice to give that amount to the minister.
TRANSLATIONS
5Q. Are translators available for all languages?
5A. No, but a German, or Spanish translator is available, through
some of our chapels, for an additional cost of $100
to $200. Some of our ministers will perform the ceremony in Spanish, so there would be no additional fee.
PHOTOS
6Q. What about taking a video and/or pictures of our
own?
6A. You may not be able to take your own video/pictures
during the ceremony at some of our chapels, since the light from your flash
may interfere with the in-house video taping system.
Otherwise it is OK.
GUESTS
7Q. Is there a limit to the number of people that may
attend the ceremony?
7A. If the wedding is held in the chapel then the number
is limited only by the size of the chapel. Our chapels
have capacities from 25 - 110.
ATTIRE
8Q. Will we all need to get dressed before we get there,
or is there a place to change once we arrive?
8A. Most wedding chapels provide a place to dress,
however most people prefer to arrive already dressed.
9Q. Can you recommend a good and reasonable place to
rent a gown and/or a tuxedo?
9A. Yes, your best bet would be to dress at the Shop,
Renta-Dress
and Tux Shop. They are reasonable, good, and they
are very close to the Las Vegas Strip.
LEGAL SECTION
MARRIAGE LICENSE
10Q. When are we supposed to get the marriage license?
10A. You must get your marriage license before the
wedding ceremony. Some wedding packages provide limousine
service from your hotel to the courthouse and then to
the chapel. However, if you wait until an hour before
the ceremony to get your license you may be cutting
it a bit close.
11Q. What documents do we need?
11A. Any one of the following will do: State Drivers
License, State ID Card, Military I.D., Original or certified
copy of your birth certificate, or a Passport.
12Q. Can we bring our Marriage License from our home
state?
12A. No, you must obtain your Marriage License in the
state of Nevada if you are getting married here.
13Q. How do I get additional copies of our Marriage
License?
13A. Call 702-455-4415.
or goto: http://www.co.clark.nv.us/recorder/Mar_srch.htm
14Q. Are there any fees?
14A. The marriage license fee is $55.00 (cash only).
RENEW VOWS / HAVE BEEN DIVORCED
15Q. How about if we are only renewing our vows?
15A. You don't need anything from the Clark County
Court House unless you want to have a new license. A
minister need not officiate your ceremony unless you
are actually getting married.
16Q. If we have been divorced before, do we need to
bring our Final Divorce Papers?
16A. No, all you need to know is the month, year, city
and state of when the divorce was final.
17Q. How about if we have been divorced more than once,
do we need to know all of the dates?
17A. No, you only need to know the most recent.
FROM A FOREIGN COUNTRY
18Q. We are from out of the Country, what do we need
to bring?
18A. In most cases, your passport will be fine, but
some countries require additional paperwork for the
marriage to be legally binding in that country.
19Q. Will it be legal in our Country?
19A. Yes, but you will need to get a certified copy
of your Marriage License or an Apostil after your marriage
has been recorded with the State. Both of these documents
can be obtained from the Nevada Secretary of State.
Please check with your local agency for exact details.
20Q. I know that in order to obtain an Apostil I have
to send a 20$ international money order payable to the
secretary of state. But where exactly do I have to send
it? Is it to the Clark County Recorder's office in Las
Vegas or is it to the secretary of state in Carson City?
20A. You send an International Money Order, made out
to the Secretary of State, to the Clark County Recorder's
office in Las Vegas.
Clark County Recorder
P.O. Box 551510
Las Vegas, NV 89155-1510
The Las Vegas Clark County Recorder's Office will then
forward your request with the money order to the Secretary
of State in Carson City, Nevada. There is no way to
send the money order directly to the Secretary of State
in Carson City.
21Q. Also, is it possible to pay for the Apostil on
the internet?
21A. No, it is not. An Apostille is not available for
order directly over the Internet; only
a certified copy of the marriage certificate may be
ordered that way,
and then only if the marriage was performed in 1984
or later.
